Less Power Mr. Scott!!! (category: General)
From Wednesday to Friday of this week, workers will be installing cell phone equipment on top of the Glenn G. Bartle Library Tower where WHRW's transmitter is located. Since standing near a 1455 watt radio transmitter is roughly equivalent to being inside an enormous microwave oven we have to lower the power of the station to a measly 200 watts or so to protect the workers from 9am-5pm on these days. This means that we will loose an enormous amount of our range during those times. Please listen live online and tell any other WHRW fans that we will be back to full power in the evenings, and hopefully will not need to operate at low power for many other days.
Lowering the power of the station, even for a few days, really sucks but as the State University of New York owns the building, holds our license, and pays our electric bills we have to be a bit accommodating for them.
